The Ladies of Oak Lane represents the 12 Panhellenic chapters at Virginia Tech and their philanthropic efforts on and off campus. Whether it be through their own national philanthropy, a local cause, university event or other chapter's philanthropy, these women spend countless hours working to better the community. The Ladies of Oak Lane highlights some of the wonderful things the Panhellenic community does both individually and collectively.

Our Mission: To enhance the perception of the Panhellenic community by showcasing chapters' philanthropic efforts.

Tri Deltas NOAH way to rock Sigma Chi's boat!

Meet the animals!
The highlight of this week was Sigma Chi's philanthropy: the 41st annual Derby Days.  Sigma Chi partnered up with Children's Miracle Network in order to aid local children with an ailment or defect and raise funds for their treatment.  The series of events consisted of the Derby chase, field games, roller derby, brother auction, and Airbands.

Inarguably, my favorite part of Derby Days was the night of Field games.  Our theme was Noah's Ark, and included Deltas in pairs dressed up as animals and coaches dressed in appropriate biblical-times clothing, down to a walking stick and long cloak.  Each organization paraded down the grassy hill, showing off costumes and holding their sign.  Given our theme, we thought it would be fitting to walk in twos, behind an Ark cutout and our coaches flailing their sticks in the air.  A finishing touch was two sisters dressed as turtles, crawling slowly behind the line!  However, amongst all of this excitement and chaos, it was important to reflect on and support the cause behind each event.
